Indexes to H Leonard anthologies

I just found this collection of indexes to Hal Leonard vocal anthologies (http://www.halleonard.com/vocalPromotions.jsp?subsiteid=27). It includes indexes by song titles, and in some cases show titles, to the Singer's Musical Theater Anthologies, opera anthologies, and others. These don't replace more general indexes, but they may prove to be a handy reference.

I just came across Mozart's Words, a stunning collection of Mozart's letters (and those of his family). The initial iteration contains 114 letters from 1769 to 1773, specifically from Leopold and Wolfgang's trips to Italy. The letters are presented as facsimiles of the originals; in 18th century and modern German; and in English, Italian, and French translations. The letters can be browsed by date, people, places, and works mentioned. The interface seems remarkably good. Their goal is to eventually make all 1,400 of the Mozart family letters available. Thanksgiving hours

Jones Library will be closed from Wednesday, November 23 through Saturday, November 26 for the Thanksgiving break. The library will be open regular hours (2:00--7:00) on Sunday, November 27.

A couple new CDs

I recently ordered a bunch of new CDs and videos. The first few CDs have arrived, and here are two highlights. Give us a few days to get them processed.

The Treasury of English Church Music: 1100-1965. A five-CD set from EMI featuring works from Dunstable (and before) to Peter Maxwell Davies, performed by fine English choirs.

Richard Craig, flute. Inward. Contemporary works for mostly unaccompanied flute by lesser-known composers.

New contemporary music scores

We just got another shipment of 20th and 21st century scores. Among the highlights are a violin concerto (in piano reduction) by Christopher Rouse, a new song by Lori Laitman ("What You Wanted"), and a Sinfonia Concertante by Lalo Schifrin for violin, 'cello, and orchestra (also in reduction). This batch also includes works by Philip Glass, Lou Harrison, and Kyle Gann. Give us a week or so to get them processed and on the shelf.
